Four Houses, One College: A New Chapter for NCC

Newman Catholic College has celebrated another milestone in its history, officially unveiling its four Houses during our St John Henry Newman Feast Day celebrations on Friday 9 October 2026.

The Chair of the College Board announced the four House names, colours and inaugural House Co-ordinators, marking the beginning of an exciting new tradition for our foundation College.

Each House is named after a saint recognised as a Doctor of the Church, a title shared by our College Patron, St John Henry Newman. The four saints reflect Newman's belief that faith and learning belong together, and that the pursuit of truth requires wisdom, courage and compassion.

Introducing Our Four Houses

Bonaventure House | Maroon
House Co-ordinator: Elaura Wilkinson

Named after St Bonaventure, a Franciscan theologian remembered for his humility, wisdom and devotion to others. His example encourages students to do ordinary things well, show generosity and remain faithful in small matters.

Siena House | Blue
House Co-ordinator: Sara Schiavon

Named after St Catherine of Siena, whose courage and conviction made her an influential voice in the Catholic Church. Her story encourages students to speak up, stand by their beliefs and recognise their potential.

Aquinas House | Gold
House Co-ordinator: Cassie Bale

Named after St Thomas Aquinas, patron saint of Catholic schools and universities. Aquinas believed that faith and reason work together, encouraging students to ask questions, seek understanding and pursue truth with humility and compassion.

Hildegard House | Green
House Co-ordinator: Yvonne Refshauge

Named after St Hildegard of Bingen, a twelfth-century abbess, composer and writer whose interests spanned music, medicine and the natural world. Her remarkable life encourages curiosity, creativity and the courage to share new ideas.

Celebrating Our New Houses

The unveiling was part of a wonderful day of Feast Day celebrations, beginning with Mass presided over by Father Dariusz.

Following the formal celebrations, students proudly represented their new Houses for the first time, enjoying an afternoon of friendly competition with the Newman Stampede and Capture the Flag, followed by a shared lunch.

As our College continues to grow, the House system will play an important role in building connections, encouraging student leadership and establishing traditions for future generations of NCC students.
